Doggie Delivery Service

Get a Message to the Dog Keeper

It is entirely possible to send messages to the Dog Keeper! While the Dog Keeper seems capable of sending text messages to characters, it does not seem like characters can find anywhere to contact the Dog Keeper directly through the phones. How strange! Oh well. Guess you'll just have to send the Dog Keeper a letter the old fashioned way!

Characters will have to write up a letter and put it in an envelope with "TO THE DOG KEEPER" written where a typical address would be printed. It doesn't seem like a return address is required! Characters will then leave their letters in their mail boxes (apartments and dorms have mailboxes in the lobbies that match to room numbers). They may also send the Dog Keeper items of any shape or size. To do this, if it doesn't fit in the mail box, simply set it by the mailbox. Seems like the Delivery Dogs know what to do! No item is too big or small- and the greatest part?

It doesn't look like there's any charge on postal!

To contact the Dog Keeper leave a comment below and the Dog Keeper will respond eventually. Maybe.

The Dog Keeper sends back letters- but they're all typed up. And of course- don't always expect helpful answers. Or any answers at all.

Get a Message to Someone Else!

While you wouldn't technically use this page to send a character letters/packages, you can assume that characters would be able to use the Delivery Dogs for similar functions with each other as well as the Dog Keeper.

Meaning if your characters makes up a package/letter that they want to send to another character, you would execute this by having the character write up an address like they would in the real world on the package or letter and then put it in their mail box with the flag up (apartments and dorms have mailboxes in the lobbies that match to room numbers). For objects bigger than the mailbox, they only have to set it down near the mail box and flip up the flag (if there is a flag to be flipped)! All deliveries are made within a day.

To execute this ICly, you would just proceed with usual inbox interactions as always.

This is just an assumed background action among characters. You do not need to make requests/make it known on this page that you are using the delivery dogs for this purpose.

Get a Message to Another NPC!

Currently it is not possible to send letters/items to other NPCs other than the Dog Keeper. This may change in the future.

If a character attempts to do so, they will find whatever item or letter they have sent in the mail box the following day....

....Only it'll look strangely as if it's aged several hundred years in one sitting.

How odd.

(Sodder is quiet for a long enough time that it would be easy to suspect maybe she was no longer inside of the doll, but eventually, she speaks again, slowly...Like she's trying to figure out the best way to explain herself.)

Everyone that I bring here has an essence. It's what I ...feel when I am all alone in the Great Sleep. It's what I grab onto when I bring you here.

(She raises a hand, pointing it right at Peter's head.)

I don't know what to call it- but it comes from there. From your minds.

(She's never been able to fully grasp her powers. And, as a child, she's only ever been able to describe it in vague metaphors or using drawings. So this? This is a struggle for her.)

Whatever it is, it's only a small part of you...At first. When people die here, they bring more of their essence into this world until eventually they leave their impression on it. You guys get so sick after you die because...your souls are being ripped through space and time and rearranged to manifest here more physically each and every time you die.

...in the shape of a deer. It...It was the only way we could think of to keep you from ever really truly dying. Ramona sacrificed all of her power, and her conscious mind, to make it so you guys could have more chances to come back as people. She worked with me to make it so- so you guys wouldn't just be lost to death. It's...We know it isn't perfect.

It was selfish enough to bring you here, so I didn't want you to be able to really die on top of it. The statues are to try and keep your soul from coming here all at once. But eventually...You are lost to the statues. And they become the deer you see wandering around- the deer that help you. The deer are-. Were... Sleepers. Antlers are so strong because you're all so strong. Every antler has the power of every Sleeper that has ever been or ever will be...

(Sodder sinks on herself then, the surface of the doll's skin starting to splinter and crack.)

Oh-. I think-... Peter. I'm getting cold again. I don't know how much time I have left here.

[Peter's eyes widen slightly, face as open and expressive as ever when the concern and sadness passes over his face — not just for the deer, but for Sodder, because... that's all he could really do. A sort of panic washes over him, that same old feeling of 'save them save him save her' when there's a person in need near him. But there's nothing he can do about this, is there?

He reaches out and grips her small hand, unsure what else to do.]

It's okay. I'll try to get you more time like this, okay? I'll let everyone know about the red paper. And I'll let everyone know about the deer; they might not realize how important it is, to not die so many times.

... U-um.

Is there — anything I can do for your time left like this?

You should all be trying not to die anyway. Since when has...Death ever been good for anyone?

(You can almost hear a gentle chastising in her voice, but it's growing thinner.)

I'm sorry. My dad...He's right sometimes. It is my fault you ...are stolen. Trapped here. It's my fault...That monsters come here.

(The cardinal flutters its wings a bit frantically, like it's just as desperate as Peter to potentially try and help. Only Sodder's face is cracking more and more.)

No. Worry about yourself, Peter. Worry about the other Sleepers. Your kindness has already been more than enough for me. Take care of each other. You need to--.

(But before she can tell Peter what he needs to do, she crumbles away into porcelain dust. The moss and flowers on Peter's desk shrivels up with her, and the cardinal vanishes into fire and smoke. They are gone.)

No — hey, we can see you're just trying to make things better now. Alright?

[The cardinal and Peter might as well be the same entity.

But there's nothing to do. There's no magical spider power that just — keeps a person alive in front of you, safe and sound. God, if only there were. He'd have a whole lot less baggage and grief in his life. And while he knows that Sodder isn't completely vanishing, there's an urgency and fear in him, that same screaming sound in the back of his head that demands him to do better, to rescue anyone that needs rescuing.]

No, no — I'll take care of you, too, okay? Don't give up on yourself. That's my job, right? To protect you, too. I'll save you; I can save you, too, I swear I'll do whatever I can —

[... But then she crumbles into pieces.

In the ensuing silence, he drops his forehead into one hand, left to helplessness once again.

... Back to the drawing board. C'mon, Pete, don't let it get to you yet...

In the space behind him, the television hums back to life from 'commercial break' —
